Colorado Serenity Business Happens Ellen Nelson January 2006 SEASONALLY YOURS SPICES UP ALL OCCASIONS. What’s there to celebrate in January? Plenty at Seasonally Yours, the new downtown Evergreen (28125 Main Street) gift shop that showcases a different theme each month. January is Skate, Walk and Fish the Lake month. Proprietor Janice Stutters has collected a store-full of locally handmade hats and scarves, stuffed penguins, and quality hot cocoa to go along with the theme. Every month will be new and different, Stutters said. It will be something worth coming in for. You can probably guess what February will feature. We’ll have lots of Valentine’s Day gifts, pandas, heart and rose-printed items, and a chocolate tea that is really very good. Stutters can also take special orders; all you have to do is ask. Open Monday to Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday 11 am to 4 pm. (303-679-3110) THE BAGELRY BUILDS BIGGER BASE. The Bagelry in Bergen Park (1242 Bergen Parkway) has gotten bigger, better and faster. We took over the TV Man’s space and the salon moved to Golden, Lyndzi Fiorino said of the expansion. There’s a lot more room behind the counter, it’s easier to work back there. They have lengthened the counter, added a new espresso machine, and expanded their menu. The Bagelry makes their own cream cheese and pastries, great breakfast sandwiches and wraps (like the Bagelry Supreme, with egg, scallions, cheese and sausage or Canadian bacon), and a wide selection of delicious hot and cold lunch sandwiches. Hang out with a cup of Daz Bog coffee or a smoothie in their comfortable dining area and bring your laptop; they have WiFi. Open Monday to Saturday 6 am to 5 pm and Sunday 6 am to 3 pm. (303-674-1413) TV MAN HAS A VISION. The TV Man graciously moved one store southwest (1242 Bergen Parkway) to accommodate The Bagelry’s expansion, but the shop has that comfortable look as if it has been there forever. And TV Man Elliot Justin has been fixing televisions for over 50 years. If you bring it in, I’ll fix it, Justin laughed. I don’t care what [brand] it is, as long as it’s got a cord. I can do them all, I don’t discriminate. Justin can usually repair any television in a couple of days, as long as he has the part in stock. Add a few days if he has to order the part. The TV Man also repairs slot machines, some radios and antiques, but no longer fixes VCRs, DVD or CD players. They make those things to be thrown away if they break. Open Monday to Friday 9:30 am to 5 pm and Saturday 9:30 am to noon. (303-670-2604) COMPLETE COMPUTER SOLUTIONS WITH COMPU+MEDIC. We do everything, Compu+Medic owner Sam Beatty calculated. Imagine glass cases filled with mouth-watering main courses, savory side dishes and decadent desserts. Fast forward to this spring, when Sage Creek Foods and Catering will bring their culinary creations to the remodeled Bergen Village (1262 Bergen Parkway). We’re looking for a mid-March to mid-April opening, Chef Edward Neiman predicted. Neiman and his staff of culinarians will provide an elaborate array of fully-prepared, oven-ready meals, including composed salads, entrees, natural and organic meats and poultry, and a hand-picked assortment of boutique groceries. The sample menu includes such sumptuous selections as radicchio and baby arugula salad with pistachios and blood oranges with ginseng tea vinaigrette, merlot-braised short ribs with fresh horseradish, a variety of comfort foods, classics and even children’s foods for busy parents. Desserts will be to-die-for, with the on-premise pastry chef cooking up cakes, cookies, and tortes daily. And if that’s not enough, Sage Creek will be available for all of your catering and celebration needs. (303-674-3383) sagecreekfoods.com JESSICA KNOWLES KNOWS NUTRITION. Get the nutrition education you need to make healthy dietary choices. I want to help educate Evergreen on personal eating habits, Dietician Jessica Knowles declared. Knowles is offering a variety of private and group nutrition classes at the Buchanan Recreation Center (32003 Ellingwood Trail, Evergreen), including Sports Nutrition, Personal Eating Makeover, and Mommy and Me Nutrition.
